Protection & Coverage
Rival RV is in pre-launch development. Bookings are disabled, and Rival RV does not currently sell, bind, or provide insurance.
Standard Protection Design
Not Yet Available- Planned driver eligibility review (age 25+, licensed 2+ years)
- Digital rental agreement signed by both parties
- Departure and return condition reports
- Security-deposit-backed damage claims
- Planned payment processing through Stripe
- Dispute resolution support
These safeguards are not currently operational. Optional paid insurance may be offered only after a licensed carrier partnership and final policy disclosures are in place.
How Insurance Works Today
Rival RV does not currently sell or bind insurance policies. If users arrange a rental outside Rival RV, any applicable insurance would be the host's own RV policy and, where applicable, the guest's personal auto policy.
Many personal auto policies do not cover RV rentals — check with your insurer before your trip. Hosts are responsible for maintaining insurance appropriate for renting out their vehicle.
Rival RV’s deposit and damage-claim workflow remains a development-stage design and must not be relied on for an outside rental.
What Standard Protection Does Not Cover
The damage-claim process excludes the following, and renters are personally responsible where they apply:
- Intentional damage or vandalism by the renter
- Damage while operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol (DUI/DWI)
- Damage caused by unauthorized or unlicensed drivers
- Normal wear and tear
- Pre-existing damage documented before the trip
- Personal belongings left inside the vehicle
- Damage from operating outside the agreed geographic area
- Mechanical failure due to renter negligence

Frequently Asked Questions
No booking or protection product is currently available. “Standard Protection” describes a pre-launch product design, not an insurance policy, active service, or promise of coverage.
Not yet. Rival RV does not currently sell or bind insurance policies. We are working toward a partnership with a licensed carrier; once that is live, optional paid protection plans will appear at checkout. Until then, no coverage amounts or deductibles are quoted anywhere on the platform.
The host’s own RV insurance and your personal auto insurance are the applicable policies. Many personal auto policies do not cover RV rentals, so check with your insurer before your trip. Hosts are responsible for maintaining insurance appropriate for renting out their vehicle.
Damage is handled through the security-deposit claim process. The host documents the damage and files a claim within 7 days of trip end; our team reviews evidence from both parties and, if the claim is approved, the approved amount is charged against the security deposit hold.
Under the rental agreement, renters remain financially responsible for damage they cause beyond the security deposit amount. This is another good reason to confirm what your personal auto policy covers before the trip.
Report damage immediately and document it with photos and video. The host initiates the claim from their dashboard with documentation and cost estimates, and our team reviews evidence from both parties before any amount is charged to the deposit.
